Lessons from Apple's lousy partnership with AT&T

Apple's strained relationship with AT&T hit a new low this week as the carrier botched early sales of the latest iPhone model. Geoffrey James argues in a BNET blog post that the whole mess stems from Apple's incorrect assumption that an exclusive deal would inspire AT&T to throw its entire organizational weight behind the iPhone. "If you're hoping to build your business through partnerships, your number one priority is to avoid the mistake the Apple made: not really understanding the commitment (or lack of commitment) of your partners," he writes.
