Accessories boutique Lou Lou finds fast-fashion success

Former Ahold Foods employee Ben Wegdam and his wife, Tara, opened the first Lou Lou accessories boutique in a 250-square-foot space in Bethesda, Md., five years ago. Today, the concept, which is modeled after fast-fashion chains with twice-weekly shipments of new merchandise, has grown into a $15 million business with 14 stores in the Washington, D.C., area, and two more slated to open later this year.
