Calif. educators learn to integrate farming, food in the classroom

Students in a California school district recently participated in a four-day training program on botany, poultry, egg production, livestock, water and other topics aimed at helping teachers integrate lessons on farming and food-processing in the classroom. A teacher who participated in the Teacher Agricultural Science Technology Education Seminars said one classroom lesson could focus on growing plants and using a microscope to get a closer look at their parts.
