Raw milk: Health claims mask real dangers

Between 1993 and 2006, 1,500 people -- including many children and teenagers -- fell ill from raw dairy consumption, and some of them suffered serious illnesses and long hospital stays. Contrary to claims, studies have shown that pasteurization does not alter milk's nutritional value, and it does not promote lactose intolerance or allergies. The AVMA is among a number of medical and scientific groups that warn against raw milk consumption.
