Allergy labeling law is passed by U.S. Subcommittee on Health

A congressional Subcommittee on Health has passed a bill that requires food manufacturers to clearly state if a product contains the eight major food allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat and soy. Supporters of the bill say the labels will help food-allergic consumers more easily identify a product's ingredients and stay healthy by protecting themselves from ingredients that can be harmful.
