Psychiatric patients wait longer for hospital admission

A survey of 328 emergency medical directors found that 80% of hospitals report psychiatric patients sometimes wait four hours or more to be admitted, and 10% say these patients sometimes wait more than a day. Experts say many hospitals are closing their mental health units and have a shortage of psychiatrists.
