AMA leaves door open for Obama's proposal of public insurance

At its annual meeting, the American Medical Association indicated that it is open to President Barack Obama's proposed plan for public health insurance and said it supports "health-reform alternatives that are consistent with AMA principles." "The AMA did not close doors," said Dr. Nancy Nielsen, the association's former president. "The AMA said we will evaluate all proposals in light of our principles."
