US Airways CEO: airlines' fuel efficiency up 25% since 2000

US Airways CEO Doug Parker reported that jet fuel, the industry's largest cost, has more than tripled since 2000. "From a user's perspective, there is no legislation that can be passed that can make our industry more motivated to reduce our use of jet fuel," he said. Parker also said he is seeing a "nice uptick" in leisure bookings, though he admits that premium passengers would be a bigger help to the beleaguered industry.
