AT&T, Verizon Wireless join the alliance against FCC public-safety plan

Police and firefighter groups have picked up AT&T and Verizon Wireless as allies in the fight against an FCC proposal to conduct a spectrum auction as a way to award spectrum for public-safety and emergency use. The plan would bar the carriers from participating in the auction. The two carriers and the alliance also want the FCC to award D-block spectrum directly to the public-safety groups.
