South Dakota farmers and legislators are hoping that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will spur more demand for corn ethanol. "Ethanol is produced locally. You cannot export those jobs, so could it be an opportunity if we continue to grow the market? Absolutely." said Sen. John Thune, R-S.D. In an effort to grow the ethanol market, South Dakota's congressional delegation is calling for increases in the ethanol blend limit, blender pumps and flexible-fuel vehicles.
