Supertasters are partial to salty foods

Most people like some salty food, but researchers said others need that seasoning to block unpleasant tastes, which could pose a problem in efforts to reduce sodium content for better health. So-called supertasters are especially sensitive to bitter compounds and perceive more saltiness from salt, as well as more sweetness from sugar, more heat from chili peppers and more fizz from carbonated drinks.
