Spuds could be at the forefront of the next energy revolution, say researchers who have found ways to turn potatoes into an energy source up to 50 times less expensive than conventional batteries. By boiling potatoes, researchers were able to boost the energy gains from electrolysis tenfold, making the vegetable into a viable alternative to batteries and domestic energy sources such as kerosene.
