House bill would hit funding for CFPB, SEC and IRS

A House Appropriations subcommittee passed legislation that would curb funding for the Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. "We really have to make difficult choices if we're going to reduce the federal government's unsustainable level of spending," said Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., chairwoman of the committee. Democrats said the spending cuts would be damaging to the public.
