Airbus competition sparks imagination of engineering students

Jet fuel made from biomethane and liquefied natural gas and small onboard electronics powered by passenger body heat are among the innovations suggested by teams of engineering students in the Airbus Fly Your Ideas Competition sponsored in part by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. "We're trying to encourage the next generation of leaders to think about ways in which the aviation industry could be made more eco-efficient and to be sympathetic to its environmental impact," said Airbus' Dale King, senior manager for research and technology.
