International visitors spent $14.5B in the U.S. in April

Spending by international visitors to the U.S. reached almost $14.5 billion in April, according to the Department of Commerce, marking a more than 5% increase from the same month last year. Occupancy in Washington, D.C., hotels is also up by 0.7% for the first four months of 2013, along with average daily rate, which is up by 4.6%, according to Smith Travel Research.
