Ray Kauffman, superintendent for Pennsylvania-based Joseph S. Smith Roofing, and his crew were at work on a roof of The College of Physicians in Philadelphia when a building under demolition gave way, trapping people. "We took off as fast as we could to go down to help people get out from underneath the building," Smith said. "We got three or four people out before the fire department took over." Then the roofing crew went back to work, before being told they would need to evacuate due to gas and electric concerns.
