Supreme Court will hear case on disparate impact in housing

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case that questions whether the Fair Housing Act allows for lawsuits that allege harm to minorities even if the discrimination was unintentional. The case questioning the legal strategy known as "disparate impact" involves a New Jersey town's neighborhood redevelopment project. Regulators in recent years have relied on the disparate-impact strategy in fair-lending cases against mortgage lenders.
