Survey shows concern with total sugar consumption

Research conducted by Mintel on behalf of the Corn Refiners Association says that 17% to 26% of soda, bread and yogurt consumers aim to reduce total sugar intake, but 5% or less avoid a specific sweetener, such as high-fructose corn syrup. "These findings directly contradict the unfounded buzz around specific sweeteners like high-fructose corn syrup," said consumer-research expert Sara Martens, vice president of The MSR Group.
