As user experience goes beyond screens, virtual worlds grow bigger

Augmented-reality tools such as the Leap Motion Controller are freeing users from the mouse and the touchscreen in favor of virtual interactions in which users can manipulate 3D objects with all 10 fingers, writes Tommy Walker. This trend will create new user-experience design challenges, as well as opportunity. "Our computers will be less like dynamic pages of a magazine and more like windows to another world," Walker writes.
