Wash. educators weigh in on upcoming implementation of Common Core

Educators in Washington state are getting ready for implementation of the national Common Core State Standards, and while some say more preparation is needed before the final roll-out, they also note that the new standards will help ensure all students receive access to the same learning opportunities. "We're saying every group of students in every school needs to have access to the same type of thing, and they don't. It's an equity problem," middle-school language arts teacher Christy Bowman-White said. "So is it hard? Yes. But it's necessary. We have to do it."
