Would Orchard Supply give Lowe's more options in Canada?

Lowe's proposed acquisition of California-based Orchard Supply, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization Monday in anticipation of a sale, could give the US-based home-improvement chain the option to operate smaller stores and try new concepts in Canada, says analyst Keith Howlett. Operating multiple formats has been a strategy for Canadian rival Rona, which rebuffed a buyout bid by Lowe's last year.
