Americans boost education donations by 7.4% in 2013

A record $52.07 billion was donated by Americans to education in 2013, up 7.4% from 2012, when modified for inflation. A report by the Giving USA Foundation found that 60 to 70% of those donations went to higher education. The rest of the funds went to charter schools, after-school programs and other K-12 purposes, according to the report.
