Expert: Burgundy industry should be realistic about future in Asia

While Burgundy and other global producers of pinot noir have a "real and beautiful future in Asia," according to Burgundy producer Nicolas Potel, the landscape of consumption in the new market is still limited and the wine trade should be realistic about growth there. The majority of Asian consumers cannot afford expensive wines on an everyday basis, so Potel said he is focused on a personal, education-based approach that targets high-end restaurants and sommeliers.
