Survey shows many consumers seek natural foods

A Consumer Reports survey of 1,000 adults says almost 60% said they look for the term "natural" on food labels when grocery shopping, while about two-thirds said that term means a product does not contain artificial ingredients, pesticides or genetically modified organisms. Registered dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick said there isn't a formal definition of what "natural" means, so calling the manufacturer may be the best way of knowing whether a food product meets those expectations.
