New Jersey moves to protect transgender rights

New Jersey became a safer place for transgender people Sunday when a law took effect banning discrimination based on "gender identity and expression" employment, public accommodation, contracts, housing, credit and union membership. The state became the sixth in the country to add such transgender protections.
