Day camp guides students through invention process

A weeklong summer program allows children to invent machines through a process that is primarily self-directed. "This camp was meant to be messy," said Jocelyn Flitton, director of Camp Invention and a physical education teacher. "It gives kids permission to think in a broader context. We don't tell them to put the wires here and here and this will happen. They tear it apart and see what they can make from it."
