Hand hygiene program big success at Texas hospital

San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas, reached more than 99% hand hygiene compliance among staff in late 2008. The hospital worked to improve accessibility of hand hygiene dispensers, adding them to patient rooms, hallways, dietary trays and nursing carts. It also brought in linen hampers for patient rooms to stop the spread of infection when dirty linen is transported and hosted an education fair for staff.
