IBM earmarks $100 million for mobile-Web research

IBM will spend $100 million to develop new technology to reach people who have unshackled themselves from their PCs and use wireless devices as their primary means of online communications, the company said Wednesday. Much of IBM's focus will be on emerging markets, where mobile phones are more popular than PCs, IBM said.
