Mulgrew is expected to take over as head of UFT

Former teacher and United Federation of Teachers Chief Operating Officer Michael Mulgrew is considered the front-runner to take over the reins of UFT from Randi Weingarten, who is expected to leave her post this year. Weingarten has held the job for 11 years but was elected last year to head the American Federation of Teachers and has been balancing both positions.
