Online ad targeting, privacy to be subject of House hearing

Privacy issues relating to online ad targeting will be the focus of a joint hearing by two House panels scheduled for today in Washington. Privacy advocates are expected to make their case that the voluntary, opt-in systems being used by major Web sites and portals aren't sufficient to ensure privacy from behavioral targeting systems. Representatives from Google, Yahoo! and Facebook also are to present their sides at the hearing.
