California is on track to hear high-speed rail bids by 2011

California is leading the pack of high-speed rail proposals: The state plans to welcome bids to build the super-fast train system by late 2011. California received $2.3 billion in stimulus funds earmarked for high-speed rail. That, combined with $10 billion in state bonds, has put California at the forefront of high-speed rail development.
