"People-to-people" tours to Cuba are gaining interest

The opportunity to experience a once-forbidden tourist destination is driving more Americans to take part in in the government-approved "people-to-people" tour programs to Cuba, despite rising local service prices and tighter regulations by the Treasury Department, this feature says. Visitors are treated to sights of decades-old buildings and vehicles, museum tours and face-to-face interaction with locals. "[I]t's the shortest distance you'll ever travel to enter a completely different world," said Peggy Goldman of Friendly Planet Travel.
