Aeronautical students to compete in female-only flying race

Pilot Valdeta Mehanja and co-pilot Danielle Erlichman, students at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, are set to start the 2013 Air Race Classic today. The race takes off from the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Wash., and will fly some 2,000 miles to Drake Field Airport in Fayetteville, Ark. "I'm very glad to be able to have this opportunity to race again representing Embry-Riddle," said Erlichman.
