Britain and EU states reach agreement on MiFID

The UK and EU member states have struck a deal on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive that could rein in Brussels' influence over how Britain regulates its markets. EU finance ministers are expected soon to give formal approval to the MiFID deal, which represents a significant step forward. However, issues regarding Organized Trading Facilities and clearinghouses remain.
