Column: "Companion plants" present a win-win for the garden

Certain plants can be used to boost the growth of other plants or act as natural pesticides, writes Becky Garber, a member of the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado. Placing "companion plants" beside each other could boost yields while repelling pests, such as in the case of tomato and basil plants. In this article, Garber enumerates some flowering plants, herbs and edibles that could be sown beside vegetables to enhance their growth.
