Gigabit Ethernet promises page loads "with a blink"

The emergence of gigabit Ethernet like that offered by services such as Verizon FiOS and Google Fiber will revolutionize how consumers engage with the world around them in ways that were unimaginable at the dawn of the Internet age, experts say. "The limit on gigabit fiber is like 0.7 the speed of light," said Will Barkis, a gigabit developer at Mozilla. "Gigabit speeds get you in the realm of Holodeck-level perceptual experience. Very quickly we'll see things that are just better."
