Higher diabetes risk seen with increased red-meat intake

Data from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study and the Nurses' Health Study showed that people who ate an additional half a serving of red meat daily for four years had a 48% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes over the following four years. Conversely, cutting back on red-meat consumption by more than half a serving per day helped reduce the risk of diabetes by 14%, the study in JAMA Internal Medicine found.
