LinkedIn's "Influencers" show the net's urge to publish

LinkedIn executive editor Daniel Roth says the business social network's introduction of "Influencers" columns -- contributed by Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Meg Whitman and others -- is increasing engagement and traffic to news products. Executives are clamoring for the chance at influencing the network's 225 million members, and CEO Jeff Weiner has set a goal of making LinkedIn "the definitive professional publishing platform."
