General aviation security expert Dave Hook says that there is a difference between a ramp check by a Federal Aviation Administration Aviation Security Inspector, and a search conducted without a warrant by law enforcement. Hook reminds pilots of their right to ask to see an ASI's identification card and to ask law enforcement officers to produce a warrant.
