Study: Statins can help curb cholesterol in type 1 diabetes

A small study presented at The Endocrine Society meeting showed young type 1 diabetes patients with high LDL cholesterol levels who took atorvastatin attained significant reductions in non-HDL cholesterol levels at six months, while those in the placebo group showed slightly elevated levels. Researchers noted higher HbA1C rates in the atorvastatin group at three months but did not find HbA1C differences between the groups at six months.
