The U.S. and Russia took a groundbreaking step toward bolstering their nations' cybersecurity ties -- and avoiding potentially dangerous misunderstandings -- with the establishment of a hotline to share information about defense-related cyber activities. The new program, which is modeled on one established during the Cold War and will operate through the U.S. Nuclear Risk Reduction Center, creates the first formal channel for the sharing of cybersecurity information between the two countries.
