IDC: Mobile devices are supplanting PCs worldwide

PCs are fading into secondary devices supplementing smartphones and tablets, with mobile-device shipments expected to rise 15.6% this year to 1.8 billion units, according to an IDC forecast. That total is expected to grow to 2.4 billion units annually, with lower-priced Android devices most in demand in emerging markets.
