Study finds penicillin G may be option for pediatric skin tests

Canadian researchers reported penicillin G is a safe and effective option for skin tests in children with a history of penicillin allergy. Jennifer Goldman of the University of Missouri-Kansas City commented that increases in drug-resistant organisms combined with few new antibiotic options means "better defining penicillin allergies in patients is critical so that unnecessary use of alternative broad-spectrum antibiotics can be avoided."
