Audit seeks return of $16.8 million in Illinois Title I funds

The Illinois state board failed to adequately monitor how Chicago schools and another district used Title I money, a federal audit has found. The report recommends the state return at least $16.8 million in federal funds that auditors said was used inappropriately.
