Rolls-Royce turbofan passes test for Boeing 787

The Trent 1000 turbofan -- the lead powerplant for Boeing's 787 twinjet -- successfully completed the first phase of its flight test program. Rolls-Royce already has delivered the first set of Trent 1000s to Boeing for installation in the aircraft that is due to roll out next month.
