Yahoo! shakeup signals return to tech roots

Signaling a return to its technology base, Yahoo! has replaced chief executive -- and former Warner Bros. executive -- Terry Semel, who resigned Monday, with Jerry Yang, a co-founder of the Silicon Valley giant. The change at the top comes after 18 months of struggles for Yahoo!, which has failed to keep pace with major rival Google and also faces strong competition from newer Web entities such as MySpace and Facebook.
