Appeal likely in Canadian ABCP case

Some holders of corporate notes want to appeal a Canadian court decision restructuring the frozen market in asset-backed commercial paper. Many individual investors and companies that bought ABCP on the recommendation of their financial advisers objected to part of the restructuring plan that offered immunity against lawsuits. The Ontario court ruling meant to liberate the $32 billion market would allow limited actions to pursue fraud claims against ABCP dealers.
