CMS gives $24.5 million to top hospitals

The highest-performing hospitals in the Medicare pay-for-performance demonstration project, a partnership between CMS and the hospital consortium Premier, earned a combined $24.5 million. "The findings from the first three years of the project clearly show that transparency with rewards for quality achieves a higher level of performance in American hospitals," said Premier's president and CEO.
