Prepare your business for the worst

Businesses can take five steps in five minutes or less to improve their disaster resilience. These steps include providing bank wire instructions for their insurance companies; keeping "certificate of mailing" receipts on hand; composing a list of alternate phone numbers to contact customers, suppliers and employees; implementing a "buddy system" with another small, noncompeting business; and keeping a laminated emergency contact card in the business owner's wallet.
