AAP: Parents need to be teen's "friend" online

The AAP recommends parents ask that their teenagers and tweens accept them as "friends" on social networking sites such as Facebook. Monitoring their child's use of online sites and electronic messaging can help avoid problems such as "sexting," when children send sexual photos of themselves or others in online messages, which is a crime in some areas.
